On Thursday morning Walmart announced that it would give all their hourly employees cash bonuses while they work through the epidemic.
Walmart’s announcement states, “Walmart associates have gone above and beyond the call of duty in serving our customers during these unprecedented times.” (The Hill). Furthermore, Walmart has also announced that it will hire 150,000 new employees before the end of May. They hope to hire people who are temporarily out of work to supplement the demand they are experiencing.
Grocery-chain store Giant also joined the trend and announced that it would move its quarterly bonuses up to April. Associates in Giant stores will be able to earn more money at the end of May pending performance.
