Voter Registration Discrepancies

A nonprofit organization called Honest Elections Project has discovered that counties in Florida, Michigan, and Colorado have unusual voter registration rates.

Some counties were found to have more registered voters than eligible persons to vote.  The Honest Elections Project claims that the reason for these strange numbers is due to the failure of states updating voter counts for those who have moved, died or gone to jail.

All three states have counties where voter registration is over 90% of eligible adults and some with over 100% registration.  To put this into context, the average voter registration across the United States is around 67% of eligible adults, these counties numbers don’t come even close to that.  Since the discovery, voters are threatening to sue their respective states for not maintaining a current voter roll.
