After a two-week trial, two of the top wireless carriers in the country, Sprint, and T-Mobile have won approval for T-Mobile US Inc. to take over Sprint Corp.
This merger will be beneficial to both companies as it would give struggling, Sprint Corp, a chance at survival, and allow both companies to become the third-largest carrier in the country, competing against the other two largest wireless carriers in the US: Verizon, and AT&T.
Despite opposition by the States of New York and California, the deal was approved by District Court Judge Victor Marrero, who was convinced that the deal would increase competition, lower prices and improve service quality.
