T-Mobile is launching its 5G network this Friday, making it the first cellular carrier to offer 5G nationwide.
While other carriers have offered 5G coverage before, it has been restricted to limited geographical areas. T-Mobile is the first to offer nationwide 5G coverage as a result of its low-band spectrum which permits signal to travel further distances and use less equipment.
In regards to speed increases for 5G service it means a slightly faster service than 4G LTE, coming to about a 20% increase in downloading speeds. Surely T-Mobile’s recently announced merger with Sprint will allow the company the space and opportunity to offer high-band spectrum over time.
Furthermore, T-Mobile is the only network that has chosen not to charge additionally for 5G coverage, giving the company another edge on the competition.
