Pro-Medicare for All activists protested outside Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Bronx offices, declaring they’re “losing hope” that “The Squad” represents their interests.
While Ocasio-Cortez campaigned on being an outsider candidate opposed to the Democratic establishment, she’s arguably become a part of it since joining Congress.
Left-wing protesters led by actress Susan Sarandon gathered to remind the New York socialist of the “promises” she and her fellow Squad-members made about advancing the cause of socialized health care.
Money quote: “If there’s a pathway that you’ve got that we’re not aware of, please share it, because we’re losing hope here that you represent us,” Sarandon said. “It’s so difficult for people that are independent to get elected in the first place, and then to see the very people that sponsored the bill not stand up for it, is very disheartening.”
Ocasio-Cortez continues to burnish her anti-establishment image by breaking traffic laws.
