Sunday evening Senate Democrats blocked an emergency COVID-19 funding package from moving any further.
New York Senator Chuck Schumer rallied fellow Democrats to vote against a procedural vote that would have limited debate and forced a vote on the package. The cloture vote needed the support of 60 senators to pass and failed at 47-47 on partisan lines. With 3 GOP Senators currently on self-quarantine, the Republican majority is now reduced to one vote.
The Senate is going to consider a new stimulus bill, the third one to be considered thus far.
