Call to Cancel Payroll Taxes

The United States Chamber of Commerce has called on Congress and the Trump Administration to cancel payroll taxes in an attempt to limit economic recession.

The Chamber sent a letter to President Trump, Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell asking that payroll taxes that would have been paid by employers for March-May be cancelled.  The letter states, “Temporarily cancelling the collection of these taxes will reduce the costs for employers for continuing to pay employees regardless of whether they are working or on sick leave and increase liquidity for employers to help them respond to losses in revenue.” (The Hill)

The Chamber of Commerce, along with this suggestion stated that they support the efforts made by Congress and the Administration thus far.
