California's devastating wildfires

Wildfires in California continue to rage through the state and force thousands of residents to flee from their homes in search of safety. The tragic natural disaster has displaced Californians primarily in the west side and Los Angeles region but could spread to other areas within the state.

Fires are also prevalent in southern California, where wind gusts rip through the trees at 80 mph. A large fire continues to burn in Northern California wine country as firefighters struggle to contain it. The fire spread an additional 12,000 acres on Sunday night, making it even more difficult for firefighters to contain.

Combating the fire on Monday proved to be a difficult endeavor for first responders, as roughly 600 firefighters battled the blaze yesterday despite worsening weather conditions. Wind continues to be an impossible force to subdue, as it spreads the fires to new areas and disintegrating acres.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has ordered nearly 185,000 residents to leave their homes for protection.

This recent string of devastating wildfires comes just months after a fire tore through the Calabasas area earlier this year, as combating wildfires is an increasingly difficult task for California residents and firefighters.
