Asylum Policies Up For Debate

The Trump Administration has asked the Supreme Court to allow the “Remain in Mexico” asylum claim policies to stay in place pending a hearing on the policy.

The policy currently states that those seeking asylum must stay in Mexico as they wait for their court dates in the United States. This has resulted in many tent communities rising up in border towns.  Last week the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals blocked the policy from going through. The Supreme Court has yet to say whether or not they will hear the case.

The Solicitor General says the “Remain in Mexico” policy has really helped drop down the number of those attempting to cross the border.
