Amazon to Hire 100,000 Workers

Amazon announced on Monday it will hire 100,000 workers in response to the quick surge of online orders due to consumers not leaving their homes and turning to online shopping.

Amazon is welcoming people in other industries, who have stopped working due to the coronavirus outbreak, giving them an opportunity to have an income and return to their former jobs when the crisis subsides. In addition, Amazon is raising the hourly wage by $2 as an incentive for new hires.

Supermarket chains are also hiring more staff to fulfill the growing number of deliveries and orders and the influx of people who are stocking up on food and hygiene products.

However, it is still unclear as to how these businesses will operate with new government restrictions and lockdowns in different parts of the country.
